About Dean
Dean Widener is the owner of Widener Life and Health in Chapin SC that specializes in serving National Guard Soldiers and Airmen throughout the United States and local citizens in the Chapin community. As a 39-year military veteran he lives the core values that were instilled in him of Integrity first, Service before self and Excellence in all you do. Serving others and giving back to his community is an honor and responsibility that he truly believes in.
After graduating high school in 1980 Dean served his nation in the United States Air Force as a Logistics Specialist serving the majority of his active-duty career in the South Pacific. Dean left active duty and joined the South Carolina Air National Guard where he represented the highest level of enlisted leadership and was principal enlisted advisor to The Adjutant General and Assistant Adjutant for Air National Guard. In this role, he was directly responsible for all matters regarding the professional development, readiness, training, utilization, health, morale and welfare for more than 1,400 enlisted members of the South Carolina Air National Guard. Dean volunteered three times to serve his country during the War in Iraq. He retired in 2016 and was awarded the Legion of Merit Medal. He also served the state of South Carolina in his work at the Department of Motor Vehicles as Chief of Logistics. Dean left the DMV and now serves as an insurance benefits consultant to Soldiers and Airmen throughout the United States and 4 US territories.
Dean served as the President of the SC National Guard Association, Elected Chairman, Area 3 for the Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States, a member of The American Legion Post 193 and serves as an active member of Chapin Christian Community Church.
Dean was awarded First Sergeant of the Year, Fidelity and Guarantee Life Power Producer for 4 consecutive years, and received Armed Forces Benefit Associations President Award for 5 consecutive years. He was recognized as Manager of the Month at the Department of Motor Vehicles twice. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Education, Associate Degree in Business Administration from Wayland Baptist University, Wayland Texas and an Associate Degree in Logistics Management form the Community College of the Air Force.
He is a man of faith and believes God and family are the corner stone of his life. He is honored to be married to Lisa Manini Widener, and is the father of Savannah W Sirois, Zachary Widener, Grayson Widener and stepfather of Spencer and Erin Sox, and proud grandparent of Ellie and River Sox.
Service
I believe our community needs someone who will take our values to the State House and represent us. As a former State Command Chief for the South Carolina Air National Guard, service to my community, my state, and my country was engrained in me and I know how to tackle challenges and work with others to get the job done.

As a father and mentor for many years in our community, I have learned that the saying is true: It takes a village to raise a child! That’s why I have spent countless hours helping the youth in our community because they will one day grow into the leaders our community needs.
